Audi reveals champion Mike Rockenfeller’s livery

Audi Sport have revealed the livery of Mike Rockenfeller’s Audi RS 5 DTM, with which the 2013 champion will compete with this season. The car again features the yellow and green colours of the Schaeffler automotive parts manufacturer.

The car, which will be run by the Audi Sport Team Phoenix operation, carries the #1 this year, with Rockenfeller remaining at the team run by Ernst Moser, where he’ll be joined by two-time DTM champion Timo Scheider as his new team-mate.

“If the car is as fast as it looks, we’ve got good chances of being in contention,” remarked Rockenfeller on the car’s launch.

This is the third year of the new regulations in the DTM, and the second season that Audi have competed with the RS 5 model after entering in 2012 with the car badged as the A4.

Refinements for 2014 include a new aerodynamic package as well as ‘under the skin’ changes to the car, which will compete against Mercedes-Benz’s AMG C-Coupé and BMW’s M4 DTM for the 2014 title.

“I was thrilled as soon as I saw the initial designs but the car itself looks even more impressive,” said Rockenfeller.

“I’m incredibly excited about my first DTM season with ‘#1’ emblazoned on the car and can hardly wait for the next track tests to start.”

Audi will test along with Mercedes and BMW at the Hungaroring at the end of March/early April, before another test from April 14th to 17th at the Hockenheimring.
