Christian Vietoris pips Augusto Farfus in final Hungaroring test

Christian Vietoris was, just as yesterday, fastest in the final Hungaroring DTM test day. The Mercedes driver beat BMW driver Augusto Farfus by just 0.020 seconds.

“I think we can be rather happy with our achievements in the Hungaroring tests. Our new BMW M4 DTM didn’t encounter any major problems. We could complete a lot of laps and our pace also was good. At this point of the season preparations, being fast doesn’t represent a top priority. It’s far more important to try different things to be prepared for any eventuality, in the season to come. Everybody in the team is burning – and we just can’t wait for the next tests and the season kick-off at Hockenheim,” said Farfus.

Third fastest was BMW Team RMG driver Maxime Martin, just 0.073 seconds ahead of top Audi driver in the form of Edoardo Mortara.

”It was pretty good. We also had some good test days. We completed our test program and managed to do everything we had scheduled. We learnt quite a few things, which could be useful during the season. Now it’s all about analyzing everything correctly and to prepare ourselves perfectly for the next test at Hockenheim,” said Mortara.

The Italian headed fellow Audi driver and reigning champion Mike Rockenfeller, making it two Audis, two BMWs and one Mercedes in the top five.

Daniel Juncadella, from Spain, was the second fastest Mercedes driver in sixth position ahead of Mattias Ekström and Robert Wickens. Miguel Molina and Timo Glock rounded off the top ten ahead of Jamie Green and Martin Tomczyk.

Next official DTM test takes place between April 14-17 at Hockenheim, the very same circuit the season starts on May 4.
