Russell Ingall: “Dopey rules made by dopey idiots”

2005 champion Russell Ingall is under investigation by the stewards for the statement he made on the Seven Network TV broadcast at Winton after receiving a drive through penalty in the first race, according to Speedcafe.com.
“This is what I get with this category. Dopey rules made by dopey idiots,” said Ingall.

“It’s alright for these peanuts to sit up in that ivory tower of theirs and just hand out punishments like that, towards the end of a race mind you. They dudded us last meeting, when they gave us a penalty, when they did everyone else’s after the event.”

Ingall had pitted during a safety car period for fresh tyres which enabled him to climb to third position before his penalty. The penalty was given when Ingall tapped David Wall into a spin, an incident which saw Nissan driver James Moffat being collected as well.

But the Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport driver was even more furious after watch the replay of the incident.

“There’s no doubt I gave him a bit of touch-up going-in, but I’ve dived down and he’s decided to stay where I am. Now I’m two seconds a lap quicker. For god’s sake his team would have notified him and said ‘hey mate you’re dead – you’re better off just letting him go and get on with it’. But no, he wants to fight to the death and I gave him two corners and wasn’t going to give him three. So inside, if he wants to turn-in let him go. I tell you what, I’d like to drag those guys down and take them over to all of those spectators over there and see. They’d kick the s*** out of them,” said Ingall.
