Second victory for Norberto Fontana at Viedma

Norberto Fontana took a second straight Super TC 2000 feature race victory today at Viedma in Argentina. The Equipo YPF Chevrolet driver won the race ahead of Fiat driver Facundo Ardusso in second and Renault driver Guillermo Ortelli in third.

Fontana charged through the field from the back of the grid to take the lead just two laps from the end and the former F1 driver was a happy man after the race.

”I am very happy, this is amazing. The final race was very demanding because I was on the limit all the time. I never imagined that we could win here, but my Chevrolet Cruze worked really well here. So I want to thank all the engineers, mechanics, managers and team owners. We came to defend all the points lead and took a second consecutive victory,” said Fontana.

Ardusso took his first feature race podium finish of 2014 in second place for team Fiat Petronas, two seconds behind Fontana but over ten seconds ahead of Renault LoJack Team driver Ortelli in third place.

Agustín Canapino headed three Peugeots in positions five to seven with Néstor Girolami in sixth and Julián Santero in seventh.

The best Toyota driver was Agustín Calamari in eleventh position for Toyota Team Argentina.

Fontana heads the drivers’ championship on 56 points ahead of Girolami on 40 points in second and Ardusso on 38 points in third.
