Yvan Muller’s Citroën set to be repaired for Le Castellet

The Citroën Total WTCC team are confident they’ll be able to repair reigning world champion Yvan Muller’s C-Elysée car before the team’s home race this weekend.

Muller’s car was damaged in the second race at Marrakech, when Tom Coronel’s ROAL Motorsport Chevrolet was spun across the circuit and into his car. Muller was initially concerned that the car might not be able to repaired for the next round, with such a short turnaround between races, but the team are confident they’ll be ready.

“The damage is quite something to behold, but the chassis structure remains intact and we’re going to be able to repair the car in time,” said the team’s Technical Director, Xavier Mestelan.

“We really want Yvan’s car to be in top shape so that he can compete on equal terms. That doesn’t mean we’ll neglect Pechito and Seb’s cars, though! Despite all the preparatory work we did in testing, we are still in the process of getting to know the car.”

The Honda of Gabriele Tarquini is already at a workshop at the Paul Ricard circuit, along with a spare shell which was transported from the team’s Milan base on Saturday. The car is undergoing a re-shell to be ready for the race at the Paul Ricard circuit, after Tarquini was forced to miss the races in Morocco after a crash in practice.

Tom Coronel has ruled out taking part in the next meeting after the damage sustained to his Chevrolet RML Cruze, with no spare shell available.
