Robert Wickens ends Hockenheim DTM test on top

Mercedes’ Robert Wickens finished on top in the final day of DTM testing at Hockenheim ahead of 2013 DTM champion, Phoenix Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller.

Over the last three days of the final DTM test of the season, BMW had topped the timesheets but the Canadian HWA Mercedes driver set a quickest time of 1m32.845 to go quickest on the fourth and final day ahead of Rockenfeller’s Audi RS 5 DTM, and Mercedes team-mate Gary Paffett.

Adrien Tambay was fourth in his Abt Audi ahead of Audi stable-mate Jamie Green and 2013 DTM runner up, Augusto Farfus’ BMW M4 DTM.

The 2012 DTM champion Bruno Spengler was seventh ahead of stable-mate and DTM rookie Maxime Martin who finished 0.006s ahead of the unwell Mattias Ekström in the Abt Audi.

DTM rookies Vitaly Petrov and Antonio Felix da Costa finished the day 10th and 11th respectively.

The first round of the 2014 DTM season starts at Hockenheim on May 4.
