Martin Xie takes pole position at Shanghai for Ford

Martin Xie has taken his second pole position of the 2014 China Touring Car Championship at the Shanghai International Circuit, ahead of the two Volkswagens of Jiang Tengyi and Zhang Zeng Dong.

Team Work Motorsport will start ninth and tenth for the race in their Citroën C-Elysées, just behind all the factory teams of Ford and Volkswagen, though Alex Hui was unable to set a timed lap in the session and Sunny Wong was unable to take part.

With the absence of G Racing’s two Chevrolet Cruze 1.6s, the CTCC Committee has decided to combine the Super Production Race with the second round of Nissan Tiida GTS 1.6T Cup, thus adding 16 extra cars into the grid tomorrow.

The CTCC Super Production race will be held at 13:15 on Sunday.
