Shedden, Collard and Depper also punished for Croft chaos

Honda’s Gordon Shedden has lost his podium result from the third race of the day at Croft after being put behind Motorbase Performance’s Mat Jackson for an unfair pass, while West Surrey Racing’s Rob Collard and Eurotech Racing’s Martin Depper also picked up penalties.

Shedden had fought hard with Mat Jackson throughout the third race of the day, eventually getting ahead of the Ford driver during the final stages, but he has been deemed as having gained the position unfairly through contact, and was given a four second penalty which reversed the positions.

As a result, the points gap between himself and West Surrey Racing’s Colin Turkington has increased to seven points heading into the final half of the season.

Rob Collard’s pass on Team BMR’s Jack Goff for second in race three was also deemed as an unfair manoeuvre, and has been handed a five-place grid penalty for the next round, but as with Giovanardi’s penalty, as the infraction is the West Surrey Racing driver’s third of the year, it is automatically converted into a full-grid penalty, and he will start from the back alongside Giovanardi for the first race at Snetterton.

Eurotech Racing’s Martin Depper was also given a three second penalty for late race contact with Triple Eight’s Sam Tordoff, which drops him from 11th to 13th, elevating Tordoff to 12th, and Rob Austin Racing’s Hunter Abbott to 11th.
