CTCC calendar altered following WTCC changes

The China Touring Car Championship organising committee has confirmed changes for the sixth and eighth rounds of this year’s Championship, following the reshuffle of the FIA World Touring Car Championship’s calendar, which will now visit mainland China twice during the start of October.

The sixth event of the Championship was originally scheduled to take place at either the Chengdu Goldenport Circuit, or the Ordos International Circuit on September 21st, but has now been moved to take place on October 5th, sharing the bill with the WTCC at the Beijing Goldenport Circuit instead.

The seventh meeting will take place one week later at the Shanghai International Circuit along with the WTCC as previously scheduled.

The season’s finale will still take place on October 26th, but will be moved from the Zhuhai International Circuit, which hosted the second round of the Championship back in May, to a brand new circuit at Yancheng in the Jiangsu Province.

The calendar change will work to the favour of Changan Ford FRD driver Darryl O’Young, currently third in the standings, who was set to miss the Chengdu/Ordos race due to clashing commitments to drive for Craft Bamboo Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Circuit of the Americas. O’Young will still be forced to miss the Shanghai round of the CTCC on October 12th however, which takes place the same weekend as the Japanese round of the WEC at the Fuji Speedway.
