Fredrik Ekblom and Fredrik Larsson close in first Falkenberg test

Volvo’s Fredrik Ekblom withstood BMW’s Fredrik Larsson’s last lap gasp to reduce the gap to just 0.096 seconds in the first STCC test of the weekend at Falkenberg.

Ekblom topped more or less the entire session, steadily improving his times, and it was only Larsson who came close on his very last lap of the session. Richard Göransson matched the Volvo driver in the first part of the session, but was ultimately 0.217 seconds behind in third position.

Linus Ohlsson made it four manufacturers in the top four, 0.308 seconds behind in fourth position.

Reigning champion Thed Björk seemed to struggle during the first part of the session and it was not until late that he posted the fifth fastest time, over half a second from team mate Ekblom’s top time.

The second best BMW driver was Philip Forsman in sixth position ahead of Dacia Dealer Team driver Mattias Andersson in seventh position.

Emma Kimiläinen made steady progress during the session with her new chassis after the crash in the previous race and was ninth fastest, just under a second from the fastest time. Andreas Wernersson was the final driver into the top ten.
