Nico Müller: “the car would have been good for pole”

Audi DTM rookie Nico Müller believes he could have beaten BMW driver Maxime Martin to pole at the fifth round of the 2014 DTM season at the Moscow Raceway.

Müller, in only the fifth race of his DTM career, took third on the grid behind the two BMW M4 DTM cars of 2012 DTM title winner Bruno Spengler and Maxime Martin.

The Swiss also set the quickest time in the Free Practice session of the Moscow DTM round.

“The car would probably have been good for pole today,” said Müller. We already managed to start the day well in the first free practice session, and in the second one, we made another step forwards.

“It’s a good feeling to put this on track in qualifying and to be among the top three drivers at the press conference.”

The winner of the maiden DTM race in Moscow, 2013 DTM champion, Mike Rockenfeller, will line up fourth in his Audi RS5 DTM.

Müller’s Audi stablemates, Adrien Tambay and Jamie Green also made it into the top-10, while double DTM champion Mattias Ekström and Edoardo Mortara will start from positions 11 and 12 respectively.
