Dick Johnson Racing reveal retro livery for Bathurst

Dick Johnson Racing have revealed the design which will adorn their cars for this year’s Bathurst 1000km race, honouring the design carried by Dick Johnson and John Bowe to the team’s last Bathurst victory in 1994.

The yellow and blue colours of the team’s then Shell Helix livery will be present on the team’s cars at Mount Panorama this year, while still carrying the logos of the team’s current title sponsor Wilson Security.

Dick Johnson Racing has run a series of iconic liveries in recent years, and continues the tradition this year by celebrating the victory of Johnson and Bowe twenty years ago.

“In my mind there’s no question this was my best win there, and I know it’s the one I’ll remember as being something very special,” said team principal Dick Johnson after their 1994 victory. “I always felt we had the fastest car out there and the best overall package, but in the wet opening stages we couldn’t show the legs we knew we had.”

The team’s driver line-up for this year’s Bathurst 1000km has already been confirmed, with Dick’s son Steven returning to the driver’s seat, sharing the #17 car with David Wall, while Scott Pye will race the #16 car with Ashley Walsh during the Endurance Cup events at Sandown, Bathurst and Surfers Paradise.
