Liqui Moly Team Engstler to field three cars for Asia

Liqui Moly Team Engstler will expand to three cars in the TC2T class for the final four races of the season, starting with the Beijing Goldenport round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship on October 5th.

The team has fielded two cars thus far in 2014 for Franz Engstler and Pasquale Di Sabatino, with Camilo Echevarría standing in for Di Sabatino at the upcoming round of the Championship in Argentina.

Di Sabatino is set to return from the next event, with the team set to field their third BMW 320 TC, which was entered in the first two rounds of this year’s FIA European Touring Car Cup, but was never used in the races.

“For the Asian trophy beginning in Beijing we will have an additional car, we are still in negotiations with some Asian drivers,” said team manager Kurt Treml to TouringCarTimes. “The car is already on the way to China.”

Engstler Motorsport have so far dominated the Yokohama Trophy for TC2T class cars, with Franz Engstler winning 11 of 13 races. Pasquale Di Sabatino won the first race in Hungary, while Slovakian driver Petr Fulín was the only driver to break the German team’s winning streak, taking victory at his home event, the rain-aborted race at the Slovakiaring, in one of Campos Racing’s SEAT León WTCCs.
