Dragon Motor Racing withdraws Bathurst wild card entries

Dragon Motor Racing has withdrawn their wildcard entries ahead of the 2014 V8 Supercars Bathurst 1000 race in order to focus their efforts on the Dunlop Series.
“Our major concern about racing at Bathurst in particular was the lack of experience we, as a very young team, have at our disposal,” said team owner Tony Klein to v8supercars.com.au.

The team was supposed to run two Holden Commodores, raced by GRM last year, with Kristian Lindbom as one of their drivers.

“The key issues for our team is safety for our drivers and teams; and the possibility of jeopardising other teams’ chances at Bathurst and ultimately their Championship results,” said Klein.

The team will instead focus on the Dunlop Series development series ahead of the coming 2015 season.

“Our plan is for the long term viability of our team and its progression. We are now focusing on 2015 in the Dunlop Series to build our experience, especially in the areas of safety and compliance. I am sure in 2015 you will see a much improved DMR,” said Klein.

The withdrawal brings the Bathurst 1000 field down to 26 cars with Super Black Racing being the sole wildcard entry.
