Mat Jackson confident ahead of Brands Hatch

Mat Jackson had a very good weekend in Silverstone, leaving the track with two podium finishes, including a Race 3 win, and a fifth place in Race 2.

“The car has always gone very well here, so going into the weekend we knew we had half a chance to win”, said Jackson to TouringCarTimes. “In qualifying it was very tight but we managed a P4, which was good, but we needed to be in clear air to show the potential of the car and it was good. It’s always nice to come away with good points and a win.”

In Race 3 Jackson made the best out of the restart from the Safety Car period and managed to build a lead he never left by just being careful not to make any mistakes.

“I took a conservative approach, I just needed to be consistent because it’s very hard to take time away from the opponents at Silverstone. We had a 2.5s lead at one point, so as long as I did not make a mistake I could have kept the gap. I could have been my own killer but I kept going consistently and I made it to win, so it was a very nice race.”

The Ford driver has got high expectations going into the last racing weekend of the season at Brands Hatch GP.

“The car has been absolutely outstanding today, we hope it will be the same in Brands Hatch in two weeks. I’m very pleased with our performances and if we can continue like this I can’t see why we should not be competitive for the last race as well.”

Jackson bagged 49 points at Silverstone, which got him up to fourth in the championship, four points ahead of 2013 champion Andrew Jordan.
