Beijing Goldenport circuit hosts CTCC this weekend

The China Touring Car Championship resumes this weekend for the sixth time this season, the first of two weekends this year where the Championship will joing the FIA World Touring Car Championship on the bill, and Changan Ford FRD Team head to the track with a comfortable lead in the drivers’ and manufacturers’ standings.

The independent G Racing team enjoyed success last time out in South Korea, with Jason Ziang taking both pole and the victory, leading team-mate Kenneth Look. The privateer squad will face competion in the class this weekend with the return of Team Work Motorsport, with Sunny Wong and Alex Hui driving their Citroën C-Elysées.

Championship leader Martin Xie will carry the maximum ballast of 125kg this weekend on his Changan Ford Focus, with team-mates Rainey He and Andy Yan carrying 85kg.

Shanghai VW 333 Racing’s best placed drivers are joint-fifth in the standings with Wang Rue and Zhang Zhen Dong both tied on points. Jiang Tengyi is eighth in the Championship, while the team welcomes the return of 2012 champion Han Han, who replaces Gao Hua Yang for the remainder of the season in the fourth Volkswagen Polo 1.6T.

Kia Racing, run with support from Lada WTCC technical partners Hexathron Racing Systems, will be back for their second outing with the K3S (elsewhere known as the Forte/Cee’d), with Larry Lin Le Feng and Michael Soong driving.

Honda will also make its return to the Championship, with Honda Dong Feng Racing fielding a pair of new Honda Civic FBs for Chinese driver Peter Li Zhe Cong and Macanese driver Henry Ho Wai Kuen.

Qualifying will take place at 15:20 CST on Saturday 4th October.
