Wang Rue and Rainey He penalised, Jiang Tengyi inherits win

Shanghai VW 333 Racing’s Wang Rue and Changan Ford FRD Team’s Rainey He were both given 30 second penalties by the officials following the most recent round of the China Touring Car Championship in Beijing, which now hands the victory to Volkswagen’s Jiang Tengyi.

The CTCC Committee investigated an incident which took place between the top two finishing pair during the opening lap of the race, and decided to award both drivers with a 30 second penalty, relegating them to ninth and tenth positions respectively.

Jiang Tengyi therefore is now classed as the winner of the Beijing Goldenport race, and catapults to second in the drivers’ standings as a result, with Jason Zhang’s G Racing Chevrolet Cruze and Han Han’s VW Polo classified in the final two positions on the podium.

The seventh round of the 2014 CTCC takes place this weekend, supporting the FIA World Touring Car Championship for a second weekend.
