WSR “flat out” in bid to rebuild Rob Collard’s car

West Surrey Racing boss Dick Bennetts says his team are putting in a “monumental effort” in a bid to repair Rob Collard’s car in time for the BTCC season finale at Brands Hatch.

WSR have been working flat out on Collard’s BMW 125i since Silverstone, when the Hampshire driver ended up on his roof after a terrifying high-speed accident.

Collard was airlifted to hospital for precautionary checks, but thankfully suffered no ill effects from the accident and has since been passed fit to race at Brands, if his car is ready in time.

Bennetts said: “It has been an extremely busy time and a huge effort from everyone at the team. We only got the shell back on Wednesday evening and the guys worked through the night, as they will again this evening.

“Everyone is working around the clock and the guys are putting in a monumental effort to try and get Rob out on track – barring any dramas we should be okay.”

Collard added: “I’m ready to go. I know the team are trying everything to get the car ready so fingers crossed I make it out there to help them win the teams’ championship and obviously support Colin [Turkington] where I can.”
