Peter Li Zhe Cong takes the first win for the Honda Civic

Dong Feng Honda Racing’s Peter Li Zhe Cong win the seventh round of the 2014 China Touring Car Championship at the Shanghai International circuit, finishing ahead of the Changan Ford FRD Focues of Rainey He and Andy Yan.

The grid was reduced to 15 cars before the start of the race after points leader Martin Xie was controversially excluded from the meeting due to an altercation with Volkswagen’s Jiang Tengyi following qualifying on Saturday.

Shanghai VW 333 Racing then lost former champion Han Han on the first lap, with Changan Ford FRD also losing Darryl O’Young’s replacement Huang Chu Han before the race even began due to a mechanical issue.

Technical problems also affected the second Honda Civic of Henry Ho, who fell down the order and finished in 12th position after having qualified in second position.

Peter Li Zhe Cong was never troubled throughout the race, going on to win the race, in only their second appearance of the 2014 season, by a clear 14 seconds ahead of Rainey He.

The final round of the Championship takes place on October 26th at the Yancheng Street Circuit
