Gianni Morbidelli disappointed with Shanghai weekend

After a nice weekend in Beijing, Gianni Morbidelli failed to score any points in Shanghai. The Chevrolet driver struggled all weekend and All-Inkl.com were not able to solve the problems the Italian had.

As a result, Morbidelli finished 11th in the first race and 13th in the second. The outcome of the event left the Italian disappointed, mostly because the team was unable to make progress after experiencing problems with the Cruze:”There’s not much to add about our weekend there: it’s been an utter disappointment, we were never there, not even for a blink of an eye”, admitted the former F1 driver.

“It’s like an enigma: we have no clues yet about the root of our sagging competitiveness! Now we have to go poring over charts and data hoping to find the right direction and the right answers to our bad weekend. I have to acknowledge that since the outset of the season I’ve never had the feel of digging in a hole as I did this weekend.”

With his long time sponsor Camozzi’s plant just a couple of miles away from the track, the Italian sent a message to his supporters:”I am deeply grateful to all the guests that have showed up to support me: thanks to all Camozzi China’s guests and to Marco Camozzi himself that took the time to drop at the circuit – you’ve been my backstop and my relief in Shanghai. I was willing to post a good result to thank you all, unfortunately I could not succeed in this, and believe me, it wasn’t for lack effort…”.

Morbidelli remains ninth in the championship, 20 points behind fellow Chevrolet driver Tom Chilton, with Mehdi Bennani now closing in after his Race 2 win, meaning the Moroccan is 18 points shy of Morbidelli.
