Tyre choices for the DTM finale in Hockenheim

As usual, the DTM drivers have made their choices as to which tyre they will start the race on. This time, different strategies are on, with eight cars starting on the “Option” compound, and the remaining 15 doing so on the “Standard” tyre.

The “Option” is a softer compound, and allows for significantly faster lap times, whilst the “Standard” allows for better durability. Whichever choice they make for the start, all drivers are obliged to make one pit stop within the allowed window, and use the other tyre during the race.

In Hockenheim, they will only be allowed to use the “Option” tyre for a maximum of 21 laps. All these limitations would be off if there was a wet race, but it doesn’t seem to be the case this weekend according to the forecast.

The choices are as follows:

Mike Rockenfeller (Audi RS5 DTM): Standard.

Timo Scheider (Audi RS5 DTM): Option.

Augusto Farfus (BMW M4 DTM): Option.

Joey Hand (BMW M4 DTM): Standard.

Christian Vietoris (Mercedes C-Coupe DTM): Option.

Paul Di Resta (Mercedes C-Coupe DTM): Standard.
