Dusan Borkovic worried ahead of Suzuka qualifying

Dusan Borkovic had an accident in Free Practice 2 after he lost the rear of his Chevrolet RML Cruze at Turn 8. The Serbian damaged the car, particularly the front splitter and the floor, and was forced to sit out of the rest of the session.

In an interview with TouringCarTimes, Borkovic explained the incident and how will it change his qualifying session:”The car had a weird reaction at the entry of Turn 8, to be honest I’m not sure what happened. I hit the wall and damaged my car too much to continue the session. This is a big disappointment as this is my first time here [at Suzuka], we needed to try some setup changes on the car and we were not able to do that, so qualifying will be a big question mark for me.”

The Serbian also had a minor injury, as he suffers from a problem in his right hand ever since he started racing:”I have a problem with my hand and when the car oversteered I got hurt, so I am also worried that this might hamper my chances in qualifying. It’s a shame because we had a good potential yesterday, but at the moment we don’t know where we are.”

Borkovic also said he will not be able to make use of the data collected by Campos Racing team-mate Hugo Valente, as the two have completely different driving styles:”We have different driving styles, so I cannot rely on his data. I need to make sure I make no mistakes although I will not have the perfect setup, so it will surely be tough. I will try to make the most out of the session and hope for the best.”

The Serbian currently lies 15th in the championship with 19 points to his name.
