Mantorp Park could be out as STCC season finale host

Mantorp Park could be left out as host for the season finale of the 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, something that has only happened three times in 18 years.
”That is the way it is currently. But as long as the calendar hasn’t been confirmed, there might be a small opening,” said Fredrik Sjöqvist, MD of Mantorp Park, to corren.se.

The reason for Mantorp Park possibly not being a part of the calendar is a difference in view over dates.

”We haven’t ended the dialogue, but we haven’t got the same view on when a race at our circuit is going to be held. We have a couple of events during the summer that we are not willing to move. We have contracts with other partners and we can’t just move them around,” said Sjöqvist.

The 2015 STCC calendar is long overdue, the only thing confirmed so far is the return to Anderstorp on May 29-30th and an expansion from six to seven races.

Rumors indicate that a new airport race will be on the calendar next year, with details likely to be revealed next week. Whether Mantorp Park is going to be included in the calendar remains to be seen.

”It would of course be a shame if there wouldn’t be an STCC race at Mantorp Park as we have a fine circuit. We would have liked to have the STCC finale next year, but the STCC organisation seems to have other plans,” said Sjöqvist.
