Pre-season Sydney test days made compulsory

The official pre-season test days at Sydney Motorsport Park has been made compulsory for drivers by the V8 Supercars organisation following the debated clash with the Bathurst 12 Hour GT race.

The regulations has been changed from stating that the test days are compulsory for teams only to now be compulsory for drivers, reading:

”All Teams entered in the VCS must participate, and must ensure that their Primary Drivers participate, for the duration of all V8 Supercars compulsory Test days as nominated by V8 Supercars.”

The 2015 Bathurst 12 Hours clashes with the test days on February 7-8th, a race which usually features a large number of V8 Supercars drivers.

The V8 Supercars organisation has named the test days a ”Super Test” which will be broadcasted on live television next year with new TV partner Fox Sports. The Bathurst 12 Hour race is on the other hand broadcasted live by rival network Seven Network, that lost the current V8 Supercars TV deal to Fox Sports.

V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton on the other hand states that the clash was unavoidable due to Fox Sports broadcasting other major sports events on the weekends before and after the Super Test.

“It’s unfortunate there’s a clash of dates, but that’s the way it is. I’ve said everything I’m going to say. It’s an argument I’m not going to win,” said Warburton to Auto Action Magazine.
