Volvo Polestar Racing confirms drivers for 2015 STCC

Volvo Polestar Racing has confirmed Thed Björk, Fredrik Ekblom and Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte as drivers for their 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship campaign.
”We are proud to confirm the strongest ever driver STCC line-up and we have a clear goal set for the 2015 season: to become the first ever team to claim three consecutive STCC drivers’ and teams’ titles,” said Christian Dahl, CEO of Polestar.

The contracts for Björk and Ekblom have been extended to new ”multi-year” deals while Bernadotte is on his third year of an existing contract. The line-up is the same as last year when Björk claimed the title ahead of BMW driver Fredrik Larsson.

”I am really pleased with extending my contract with Volvo Polestar Racing, there is no team I would rather be with. My goal is firmly set on taking a third straight STCC title, something no other STCC driver has accomplished,” said Björk.

Ekblom, who claimed the 2012 TTA title for Volvo, is keen to get revenge on his past season where he started strong but fell back due to mechanical failures and crashes.

”I am more than happy to continue with Volvo Polestar Racing and I want revenge after my 2014 STCC result which did not reflect my true speed. I am driving flat out to move up two spots in the championship this year, number one is as always my goal,” said Ekblom.

The 2015 STCC season starts on May 9th with the new Skövde Airport race.
