DTM teams begin testing in Portimao

With only two months to go before the first race of the 2015 season in Hockenheim, the Portuguese track of Portimao hosts the first round of pre-season testing, with Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW all present at the Algarve circuit.

Audi Sport will be on track with two cars, ready to start their manufacturers’ title defence.

Mattias Ekström and Mike Rockenfeller will be at the wheel of the test versions of the revised RS 5 DTM for three days, with Nico Müller on site as a backup.

The 2013 DTM champion Rockenfeller completed a brief shakedown today, and highlighted the importance of the tests.

“Even if the technology in the DTM cars has not changed since last year, Portimão is an important test for us because of the few test days we have in the DTM. It’s all about improving details, to refine the set-up, to get in as many laps as possible and to learn. I’m looking forward to it.”

Three test days start on Monday through Wednesday, with eight of hours of track time available.
