Damian Fineschi wins the first round of the Super TC 2000 in Junín

Peugeot Junior driver Damian Fineschi took victory in the first round of the 2015 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship in Junín, leading the Chevrolet of Matías Munoz Marchesi and Peugeot Total team-mate Agustín Canapino after 24 laps.

Fineschi got the jump over the Renault Fluence of Emiliano Spataro at the start, while pole sitter Leonel Pernía’s race didn’t go to plan, with the bonnet of his car coming loose during the race, forcing a trip to the pits.

Fiat’s Bruno Etman stopped on lap three, bringing out the safety car. There was a second safety car later in the race, when reigning champion Néstor Girolami suffered a blown tyre on lap 18 while running was seventh and retired from the race.

After the restart, Munoz Marchesi fought hard to deprive Fineschi of the lead, but to no avail, with the Peugeot driver crossing the line 1.5 seconds ahead to take his first ever victory in the Super TC 2000 Championship.

Behind the top three, Lucas Colombo Russell made an impressive debut for Pro Racing, finishing fourth in the Fiat Linea, with Esteban Guerrieri finishing fifth for Toyota Team Argentina.

The next round of the Championship is on April 26th at Rosario.
