Pascal Wehrlein fastest in final test day morning session

The final day of official testing prior to the start of the 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season is already underway, with Pascal Wehrlein having set the pace in the morning session, at the wheel of his Mercedes AMG C63 DTM.

Cold and chilly conditions welcomed the 12 drivers expected today, including reigning champion Marco Wittmann.

Wehrlein, who became the youngest ever winner of a DTM race last season, managed 52 laps, seting a fastest time of 1:19.952, which remained unbeaten, despite the number 94 Mercedes causing a red flag after an off track excursion.

Second fastest was Augusto Farfus at the wheel of the BMW M4 DTM, going for lunch just 0.045 seconds off the pace. Team mate Wittmann was third, albeit 0.220 seconds off Wehrlein’s time.

Paul Di Resta had a strong performance on his birthday, being fourth fastest for Mercedes, 0.252 seconds behind his pace-setter team mate.

Adrien Tambay was the fastest Audi RS 5 DTM in fifth position, 0.318 seconds off the pace. BMW’s António Félix Da Costa followed, with Audi’s Jamie Green and Miguel Molina next on the classification.

Bruno Spengler and Mike Rockenfeller completed the top 10, all under a second off Wehrlein’s time.

Lucas Auer and Daniel Juncadella closed the lap charts, having focused on pit stop practice and general race setup for Mercedes.

Testing resumes, for the final time in this 2015 DTM pre season, this afternoon at 14:00 until 18:00 CEST.
