Norbert Michelisz loses three spots in qualifying after his car was found underweight

The independent Zengő Motorsport-run Honda Civic of Norbert Michelisz was found to be underweight after qualifying and has had been given a three-spot penalty, which promotes the Castrol Honda of Tiago Monteiro to fourth in his place, and the Citroën of Sébastien Loeb to fifth.

Michelisz had originally qualified in sixth, but would have started the first race from fourth on the grid following the engine change penalties for Tom Chilton and Hugo Valente’s two Chevrolets.

During the standard scrutineering checks after qualifying, the Hungarian’s Honda was discovered to be underweight by 3kg (1,161kg when it should be 1,164kg), but due to the infringement being down to a weighing anomaly combined with an oil leak, the stewards recognised there was no intention by the team to break the regulations, and chose to impose a grid penalty instead of deleting all of his times.
