Paul Smith unveils ex-Christian Abt Audi for 2015

Paul Smith will contest the 2015 Super Touring Car season with an ex-Christian Abt Audi A4 Quattro.

Smith, who has previously contested in a Ford Escort RS500 and a BMW, has sold his 1995 ex-Hans Stuck STW Audi A4 and has restored his Audi A4 Quattro to the livery it wore during the 1997 Tourist Trophy.

Abt competed at the 1997 Tourist Trophy for his brother’s Abt Sportsline team alongside Kris Nissen. Although Abt could only manage a ninth in race two of the Donington Park event, Nissen scored a trio of top ten results, finishing eighth, eighth and tenth in the three races.

Smith, who took a double podium in the 1995 Audi at the 2014 season closing Oulton Park Gold Cup, unveiled the 1997 car at Brands Hatch before completing a test session on the Kent tarmac.

TouringCarTimes understands that there could potentially be an ex-John Cleland Vauxhall Vectra from the same Tourist Trophy race take to the historic grid in 2015.
