Qualifying regulations changed for 2015 STCC

The regulations for qualifying in the 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship have been changed with the reversed grid order being moved from race one to race two.

Last year saw the Q1 results being reversed for the grid order of race one, a format receiving criticism from the drivers, meaning that it caused accidents with inexperienced drivers starting in front. This year the Q1 session will instead reverse the grid order for race two.

”A great change. As things were last year there was really no point for me driving the first race, I would have gained points on that in the end,” said triple STCC champion Fredrik Ekblom to na.se.

The qualifying format remains unchanged otherwise with two sessions: Q1 of 20 minutes that decides the reversed grid for race two, awarding points, and Q2 in the format of ”Super Pole” with one lap per driver, deciding the grid for race one.
