Youngest ever STCC driver to Team Kia

Erik Johansson, 18 years old, has been confirmed for Team Kia and becomes the youngest ever driver in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
”I am going to fight with the big boys. I have great respect for all drivers in the STCC and I hope they will respect me too. But no one is unbeatable,” said Johansson.

Johansson joins already confirmed drivers Kevin Aabol and Emelie Liljeström, with team manager Tobias Johansson being pleased with his line-up.

”Erik was born in 1996 when the STCC was started. Some of the drivers in the field has been in the championship since then, they have of course got an enormous routine. But Erik is a great talent, we could see that in the first test session how quick he was,” said Johansson.

The 18-year-old claimed the 2012 Formula Monza title and the 2013 Formula Renault Scandinavia title and was left without a drive last year, other than taking part in the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy.
