Edoardo Mortara and Audi lead the standings after Hockenheim

The cards are on the table after the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season opener in Hockenheim last weekend. Audi Sport has shown itself as the strongest of the three manufacturers involved, and this has translated in a lead in all three championship classifications.

Edoardo Mortara had a particularly good weekend, being fastest in free practice and finishing fourth and second in the races. As a result, the Audi Sport Team Abt driver leads the drivers’ championship with 30 points.

Race winners Mattias Ekström and Jamie Green, also from Audi Sport, follow, tied in second position, with 25 points each.

Mercedes Benz’ HWA AG driver Pascal Wehrlein is fourth on the table with 22 points, after finishing on the podium on the first race. Martin Tomczyk, eighth, is the best placed man for BMW, with 12 points.

In the Teams’ classification, Audi dominates again, with three of its teams topping the charts. Team Rosberg leads with 33 points, followed by Team Abt with 30 and Team Abt Sportsline with 25.

The HWA AG division gooix/Original-Teile, lining up Pascal Wehrlein and Chris Vietoris is the best placed team for Mercedes, in fourth position with 22 points.

2014 champions BMW Team RMG are the top team for the Bavarian manufacturer, in seventh place with a total of 18 points.

The Manufacturers’ table is a reflection of what was seen in Hockenheim, with Audi on the lead with 106 points, followed by Mercedes with 58 and BMW with 38.

Next round of the 2015 DTM season takes place at the Lausitzring, from the 29th to the 31st of May.
