Dacia aiming to break Volvo dominance after strong qualifying

Dacia Dealer Team driver Mattias Andersson was third fastest in both qualifying sessions at the STCC season opener in Skövde and is eying to beat the all-conquering Volvos during the season.

”The Volvo drivers are good but they are not unbeatable. Twelve hundredths of a second is not much and one good day we are going to beat them,” said Andersson.

The day did not start well for Andersson who missed vital track time due to electrical problems with his car but was nonetheless able to bounce back.

”The first test session was okay but we hade problems with the electronics of the car in the second session. We changed some part for the qualifying session and my Dacia worked perfectly there,” said Andersson.

Andersson’s first STCC victory with Dacia is yet to come, something the 41-year-old wants to change this season.

”My goal this year is to fight for the top three in the championship and score the first STCC victory for Dacia,” said Andersson.
