No changes for the 2015 DTM calendar

ITR e.V., promoter of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, has decided to keep the 2015 calendar as originally planned, after meeting with the manufacturers involved.

It was the subject of conjecture during the season opener at Hockenheim that the weekend left vacant after the cancellation of the German Formula 1 Grand Prix, from the 17th to the 19th of July, could be filled by moving the DTM event in Nurburgring, initially scheduled for the 25th to the 27th of September.

Further rumours about a possible cancellation of the event in Moscow also suggested the possibility of having two races at the Eiffel track. However, these were quickly dismissed by Hans Werner Aufrecht, chairman of ITR e.V., saying that the Russian race was “definitely” on.

Aufrecht thanks Audi, Mercedes and BMW, the manufacturers involved, for their efforts in considering a calendar change with the season already started: “Basically, the date in July is perfect for a motor-racing event and discussing about a date shift or an additional event was the right approach. In the end, however, the additional costs as well as the major organisational and logistic challenges that would have been caused by the shift spoke against making this move.”

“The discussion is history, now, and we are looking forward to the DTM meeting held at the Nürburgring in September with a lot of pleasant anticipation”, concluded the Chairman of ITR e.V.

After the decision made by all the parties involved, the 2015 DTM calendar remains as originally planned:

01-03/5 Hockenheim
29-30/5 Lausitzring
26-28/6 Norisring
10-12/7 Zandvoort
31-02/8 Red Bull Ring
28-30/8 Moscow
11-13/9 Oschersleben
25-27/9 Nürburgring
16-18/10 Hockenheim
