Stefano Comini:”I will fight hard”

Stefano Comini enters the Monza event leading the championship by 15 points over title rival Pepe Oriola. The Target Competition driver managed a second place in today’s test session, but he feels there is still work to do on the car.

” I did set a good lap time, but I used a slipstream,” said the Swiss driver to TouringCarTimes. ” We have a top speed disadvantage, and on top of that I think there is something we still have to put straight before we can be fully competitive.”

The championship leader explained that the SEATs struggle in high temperatures, which is a concern in Monza:” We need low temperatures for our engine to perform at its best, and that is not something we can control unfortunately. In qualifying this may be less of an issue, but I am a bit concerned over the race distance, as in Monza you need to stay in the slipstream to be able to fight with the others.”

Speaking of qualifying, the Swiss driver will use slipstreaming strategies tomorrow:” We will surely try to do it. Hopefully I can qualify in a good position and then play by ear once I am there. I will fight hard and make my shoulders as wide as I can, so I will not make my opponents’ life easy.”

Action will resume tomorrow morning in Monza, where Free Practice 1 will start at 9.30.
