Honda head to Tianma as points leaders after Guangdong points cull

The third round of the 2015 China Touring Car Championship takes place this weekend at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit, where Hong Kong driver Henry Ho goes in as the championship leader for the Dong Feng Honda Racing team, following the organiser’s decision to delete the points from the first race meeting.

The CTCC decided to split the 2.0 turbo and 1.6 turbo class cars out into two separate categories at the second round at the Shanghai International Circuit, which now compete in Super Production Cup and Super Production CTCC respectively.

Following that decision, a decision was made to declare the first mixed race’s results as null and void, meaning Jason Zhang’s controversial victory, although it still stands in the record book, no longer serves him in terms of the championship.

Ho’s closest competitor is now Jim Ka To, driving for Kia Racing in their K3S, while Haima Z1 Racing will be taking part in their second race meeting with Chen Xu and He Xi Yian as drivers.

Changan Ford FRD Team are chasing success after a difficult start to the season, while Shanghai VW 333 Racing and Teamwork Motorsport are now consigned to the Super Production Cup class, which saw the RML-developed Polo dominate last time out in Shanghai.

Qualifying for Super Production takes place at 16:40 local time, and Super Production Cup at 17:30.
