Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang claims pole position in Shanghai

Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang claimed pole position for the 1.6 turbo class of the China Touring Car Championship. The Kia driver’s fastest time was 1:07.178, just over three tenths faster than Chang’an Ford FRD Team driver Andy Yan.

Kia Racing driver Leo Yi Hond Li made it two Kias in the top three, setting a lap time that was 0.404 seconds slower than his manufacturer colleague on pole.

Former WTCC racer Darryl O’Young claimed fourth on the the grid ahead of Rainey He, both driving Ford Focus 1.6T cars.

The 2.0 turbo class had Samuel Hsieh of Teamwork Motorsports on pole position. The Citroën driver beat the Shanghai VW 333 Racing duo Han Han and Jian Tengqyi in second and third.

Sunny Wong made it two Citroën C-Elysée in the top four, lapping 0.388 seconds slower than his team mate. The first race of the weekend starts 14:00 local time tomorrow.
