Dusan Borkovic claims pole position in France

Dusan Borkovic took his second pole position of the 2015 FIA European Touring Car Cup season at Paul Ricard, setting his best lap of 1:35.382 less than ten minutes into the session, after this it was never bettered.

The Serbian was almost half a second faster than his closest rival, Andreas Pfister, with Mat’o Homola and Petr Fulín completing an all Single-Make Trophy top four.

Davit Kajaia was the fastest of the TC2T class drivers and set the fifth fastest time in his Engstler BMW 320 TC with just under ten minutes remaining.

In the TC2 class for normally aspirated Super 2000 cars, Michael Matekovsky was fastest, 11th overall.

LEIN Racing’s Mladen Lalusic made a late improvement to go seventh in his SEAT, but had his time deleted as he’d exceeded the track limits at Turn 5, the only driver to lose a time during the session.

In the Super 1600 class, Nicklas Mackschin took pole position in his Ford Fiesta, 16th overall and ahead of Gilles Bruckner’s Team LuxMotor Ford and Ulrike Krafft’s Ravenol Team San entry.

Borkovic’s pole is his second of the year with B3 Racing after securing pole position at the opening round at the Hungaroring in May.

The first race takes place at 11:10 CET on Sunday, with the top eight of the first race’s result reversed to the set the grid for race two.
