Mat’o Homola on top in final practice session at Paul Ricard

Slovakian driver Mat’o Homola led the way in the final practice session for the European Touring Car Cup at the Paul Ricard circuit, ahead of this afternoon’s qualifying session.

The 20-year-old dominated the session throughout in his SEAT León Cup Racer, setting the best lap of 1:36.579 during the 30-minute session, over half a second clear of his nearest rival, Czech driver Petr Fulín.

Completing the top three was Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s Davit Kajaia, who set his time just as the chequered flag came out and was just eight-tenths of a second behind in the leading TC2T class BMW.

Andreas Pfister was fourth overall in his SEAT, with B3 Racing’s Dusan Borkovic and Topcar’s Ronny Jost completing the top five in the Single-Make Trophy class.

Dejan Bulatovic finished the session seventh, despite having one of his laps disallowed for exceeding the track limits at Turn 5 in his LEIN Racing SEAT León Cup Racer.

Ümit Ülku finished second in the TC2T class and eighth overall in the BMW 320 TC of Ülkü Motorsport, with Aytac Biter ninth fastest in the Borusan Otomotiv BMW, third in the TC2T class. Mladen Lalusic completed the top ten in his LEIN SEAT.

Michal Matejovsky was the fastest of the TC2 class runners in 11th in his BMW 320si, leading class rivals Ibrabhim Okyay’s Borusan BMW and Peter Rikli’s re-engined Honda Civic.

Ulrike Krafft was the best placed of the Super 1600 class competitors in 16th overall in her Ravenol Team SAN Ford Fiesta 1.6v.

ETCC qualifying is next and takes place at 12:15 CET.
