Sam Tordoff tops FP2 ahead of fast charging Tom Ingram

Sam Tordoff topped FP2 at Croft in a session predominantly dominated by the West Surrey Racing BMWs.

The early stages of the session was all about rear-wheel-drive machinery, with the three WSR cars, led by Andy Priaulx, and Rob Austin holding the top four positions. Gordon Shedden and later Aron Smith were able to push Austin aside, but the three BMWs were looking untouchable.

Having held the position for much of the session, it seemed almost certain that Andy Priaulx would take the top spot, but a time of 1:24.534 was enough to see Sam Tordoff jump his team-mate and hold on to first until the chequered flag.

It was only in the last 5 minutes of the session that Gordon Shedden, Jack Goff and Adam Morgan were able to push Collard down to sixth, ending the session seventh after Tom Ingram set another quick time to split Tordoff and Priaulx at the top of the time sheets.

Martin Depper also put in another strong performance, setting the eighth fastest time, having sat as high as fourth during the 40-minute session, while Aron Smith and Rob Austin rounded out the top ten.

Only 29 cars made it on to the circuit for the second practice session, with Keiran Gallagher staying in the garage for the duration.
