Lada referred to FIA Homologations Commission for potential technical breach

Lada Sport Rosneft have been referred by the stewards to the FIA Homologations and Regulations Commission for a potential breach of the technical regulations after checks on Jaap van Lagen’s Vesta WTCC after qualifying revealed an irregularity with the rear bumper.

The stewards cleared all cars after scrutineering, meaning van Lagen is still scheduled to start from ninth on the grid for race one at Paul Ricard, and second on the grid for race two, but it’ll be up to the Commission to determine if any action is to be taken against the team at the next meeting.

The technical delegates report states:

During the technical checks made on car number 46, it has been discovered that the information supplied by the manufacturer during the homologation process and which allows to confirm the compliance of bodywork parts, don’t match with the homologations form A-5759 200/01 KS, page 65, pictures M11-1 and M11-2 (rear bumper). Therefore it is not possible to confirm if Article 10.3.4 of the International Sporting Code has been breached.

A Lada Sport spokesperson told TouringCarTimes that the breach is a documentation issue not a technical one, and that the bumper complies with the homologation documentation, and the team hopes this to be resolved without penalty.
