Rob Collard pleased with WSR performance at Croft

Rob Collard says he was pleased that the West Surrey Racing team managed to make the most of their advantages at Croft, which saw all three WSR drivers visit the top step.

Collard was the third of his team-mates to taste victory throughout the Croft race day, with Andy Priaulx taking the first win and Sam Tordoff winning the second.

“We knew coming to Croft it was going to be a strong circuit for us,” Collard told TouringCarTimes. “I’m just very pleased we managed to get the best out of the car this weekend. I was a little bit frustrated with qualifying yesterday, only being fourth, but we found time in the car today and we’ve posted some very competitive times.”

Collard was also quick to praise how the team had come on when compared to recent results, with the lowest WSR result being sixth. However, Croft is known as being a BMW friendly circuit, with Colin Turkington taking two victories for the team in 2014, with Collard quick to point out that the real test will come in six weeks time at Snetterton.

“I think when we finished third in race one on the soft tyre I think that really showed how strong we are. I think we’ve still got work to do but we have turned a corner. We have closed the gap to the front wheel drive cars, however I still feel we’ve got to do more. This is definitely a WSR/BMW circuit, I think when we get to Snetterton we’ll definitely know if we’ve turned a corner.”
