Robert Wickens tops morning warm up in Norisring

Mercedes AMG driver Robert Wickens was fastest in this morning’s warm up at the Norisring, host of the third round of the 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season. The Canadian led the charge from the three-point star manufacturer, who were particularly strong this morning.

Yesterday’s stunning performance seems to have overflowed to this morning’s session. Wickens set a best lap of 48.372, the fastest of all weekend so far. Team mates Pascal Wehrlein, winner yesterday, and Paul Di Resta followed suit.

Audi’s Jamie Green was the best of the rest in fourth position, 0.413 seconds behind Wickens. Martin Tomczyk was fifth and best for BMW, followed by team mates Maxime Martin and Bruno Spengler.

Mercedes closed the top 10 with Gary Paffett in eighth place, followed by Daniel Juncadella and Christian Vietoris.

Audi again struggled due to the performance weights, which puts them some 30 kilos heavier than the BMWs.

The warm up run in dry, sunny and hot conditions, and no rain is expected today. The qualifying session for Race 2 is scheduled for 11:40 CEST (GMT + 2).
