No hard feelings after race one clash between Pfister and Homola

Single-Make Trophy drivers Mat’o Homola and Andreas Pfister came together on lap three of the first race of the day at Paul Ricard, with Homola given a drive-through for the contact and with Pfister effectively losing only one spot, with the two drivers

Pfister and Homola are now close together in the standings, with Pfister’s race two victory moving him up to third in the standings, while Homola is three points further behind as the ETCC heads into a two month break.

Race two winner Pfister was delighted with the turnaround in performance this weekend in Paul Ricard after struggles last weekend.

“We struggled in Slovakia with understeer, but now it’s much better this weekend,” said Pfister to TouringCarTimes. “I was a little bit unlucky as Mat’o pushed me out, but he received a drive-through so I could secure third place.”

“(In the Single-Make Trophy) it’s very close, and every race someone could go out and score no points, so we want to keep scoring every race and keep in touch for the championship.”

Homola accepted fault for the incident in race one, with the stewards handing him a drive-through which saw him drop to sixth in class, but third in race two means the Slovakian remains within sight of the points lead.

“The start of the race was really good,” said Homola to TouringCarTimes. “I was behind Borkovic. We then started to fight with Andreas, he was faster in the first sector. I was very defensive but made a mistake at Turn 4 so Andreas could overtake me.

“I tried to pass him back as he was off the line a little bit at Turn 6, so with the double apex at the second apex I tried to get the inside, but I understeered and touched him. He left me some space, so I tried it, but it was my fault.”
