Penalty weights of 60 kilos set for STCC

The details surrounding the penalty weights for the final three Scandinavian Touring Car Championship races have been set with a maximum of 60 kilos for one driver. Three drivers will carry 30 kilos at Karlskoga this weekend, including Thed Björk, Fredrik Larsson and Richard Göransson.

The weights are calculated on the previous race weekend, not including qualifying, and the championship standings. The top three scoring drivers of the past race weekend and the top three of the championship will receive weight.

Calculated on the current championship standings and the results at Falkenberg, Björk will carry 30 kilos at Karlskoga for leading the championship while Göransson will carry 30 kilos for scoring the most points at Falkenberg.

Title challenger and BMW driver Larsson will also carry 30 kilos, receiving 10 kilos for being third in the championship and 20 kilos for scoring the second most points at Falkenberg.

Volvo Polestar Racing driver Fredrik Ekblom will carry 20 kilos at Karlskoga for being second in the championship while Volvo colleague Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte will carry 10 kilos for scoring the third most points at Falkenberg.

Should a driver lead the championship and score the highest amount of points in a race weekend, he or she will get 60 kilos of penalty weight for the coming round.

The last time penalty weights were used in the STCC was in 2012, the final season of the S2000 regulations.
