Rasmus Mårthen joins Team Kia for final three races

Rasmus Mårthen is going to drive for Team Kia in the final three races of the 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, making his debut this weekend at Karlskoga.
”It feels really good and I am proud to be a part of this team,” said Mårthen.

The 22-year-old has previously driven STCC support classes JTCC and V8 Thundercars, but has been out from racing for over a year due to a crash.

”I have been injured since a crash in June 2014. I wore a corset until March this year and I have’t got high expectations for the races this year, it is about increasing the speed successively,” said Mårthen.

Mårthen is going to face drivers like reigning champion Thed Björk and four-time champion Richard Göransson, a task he has got respect for.

”They are very experienced drivers. I won’t be able to beat them the first race weekend and not the second or the third. I haven’t even driven a complete test day with this car, it is going to take time to get into it. But I have been fast when I have tried this type of car in the past, so that is a positive thing,” said Mårthen.

The team has stated that their ambition is for Mårthen to drive for them in 2016 and 2017.
