Prodrive Racing files protest against Craig Lowndes

Prodrive Racing Australia has filed a protest against Craig Lowndes after the incident with Mark Winterbottom in the final race of the weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“I ended up passing Lowndes and then he just spun me out at two – I hope it wasn’t intentional but it was a fair old shunt. And when he pushed me off, Andre came in skidding – I was off the track and he just cleaned me up, bent the steering and pretty well broke the car,” said Winterbottom to v8supercars.com.au.

The two fought to get into the top ten in the greasy conditions when Triple Eight Race Engineering driver Lowndes made contact with Winterbottom who spun off and dropped down the order to finish 16th while Lowndes crossed the line in tenth position.

The stewards will investigate the incident and announce a decision on the protest at the coming Sandown 500 race on September 11-13th.
