James Courtney will miss Sandown, aiming for Bathurst instead

James Courtney was forced out of the V8 Supercars weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park after a freak accident where he was struck by flying pit equipment during a helicopter show. The Holden Racing Team driver has ruled out a return at Sandown and is instead aiming for Bathurst.

“Hopefully, it’s all good by then but, yeah, Sandown’s out,” said Courtney to v8supercars.com.au.

Holden Racing Team is currently on the lookout for a replacement driver for Sandown to partner co-driver Jack Perkins who stepped in for Courtney at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“Jack (Perkins) was my teammate, so I guess he takes the reins and I don’t know. I think they were trying to ring around trying to get some people sorted. The drama is the majority of the blokes you want are gone,” said Courtney.
