Russia destroys 1.5 tonnes of food for BMW DTM team

Russian authorities has burned 1.5 tonnes of food set for the BMW team in this weekend’s DTM races at Moscow Raceway.

The destruction of the food is part of the Russian government’s sanctions against western food, spawning from the conflict in Ukraine.

A Russian government spokes person was quoted by the TASS news agency: ”The department decided to impound goods at the checkpoint due to gross violation of sanitary rules.”

Head of BMW Sports Communications, Jörg Kottmeier, has stated to Russian state news agency RIA-Novosti that the destruction of food will not affect the team in this weekend’s DTM races.
